Shinhan Bank Expands Implementation of Card Service-Only 'Kiosk'

Operating 50 Branches This Year... Expanding Future-Oriented Digital Innovation Stores

Shinhan Bank Expands Implementation of Card Service-Only 'Kiosk'

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Shinhan Bank announced on the 28th that it will expand the implementation of the 'Smart Card Service Kiosk,' a card service-dedicated kiosk capable of handling more than 90% of card services at branches.

The Smart Card Service Kiosk is a card service-specialized kiosk tailored for bank card services such as new and reissuance of check cards and simple credit card applications. Shinhan Bank is the first commercial bank to develop this kiosk, which is currently being piloted at the Nangok Branch and Seosomun Branch.

The Smart Card Service Kiosk manages up to 300 various cards with a built-in robot, allowing customers to instantly issue the card they want. It also features a biometric authentication system using video consultation for identity verification, as well as vein pattern and facial recognition (planned), enhancing customer convenience.

Additionally, to minimize inconvenience for customers who need assistance using digital devices, the kiosk enables connection to professional consultants through a video consultation system and provides real-time remote support upon customer request, thereby improving the completeness of non-face-to-face self-banking.

Starting with the installation of Smart Card Service Kiosks at Gimpo Hangang Financial Center, Pungmu-dong Branch, and Banghwa Station Branch, Shinhan Bank plans to expand to 50 branches within this year.

A Shinhan Bank official said, "We prepared this expansion to provide more convenient and faster services to customers visiting for card services and to allow employees to focus on more specialized consultation services." He added, "We will continue to consider and improve not only to enhance customer convenience but also to ensure efficient work for our employees."
