[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 27th that it visited disaster prevention project sites to prepare for summer disaster safety and inspected the progress of the projects and safety measures.
The inspection covered all disaster prevention project sites, including steep slope collapse risk areas, drainage pump stations, and river flood recovery sites.
Recently, due to the impact of rapid climate change caused by abnormal weather worldwide, localized heavy rains with severe regional disparities have become frequent, raising concerns about damage to residents' lives and property. Therefore, focusing on the flood damage sites caused by the 2020 Hapcheon Dam discharge, the project sites were re-inspected to prevent further damage, and safety measures were instructed.
The operation status of drainage pump stations and the normal functioning of facilities such as pumps, sedimentation tanks, sluice gates, and emergency generators were thoroughly checked. Additionally, strong emphasis was placed on establishing an organic cooperation system among related organizations (Korea Water Resources Corporation Hapcheon Branch, Korea Rural Community Corporation Hapcheon Branch, etc.), preparing Hapcheon-gun's own early response manual for flood damage, and readiness for response.
County Governor Moon Jun-hee requested, “Please ensure thorough management of facilities to prevent damage to residents from localized heavy rains and typhoons in the second half of the year and other summer natural disasters.”
