The spread of COVID-19 is intensifying again in South Korea. According to health authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments on the 27th, from midnight to 6 p.m. nationwide, 1,464 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported. This is 408 more than the 1,056 cases reported during the same time on the previous day.
This number is also 22 more than the 1,442 cases reported at the same time on Tuesday the 20th of last week. Excluding the 1,557 cases on the 21st, when 270 confirmed cases from the Cheonghae Unit were simultaneously reflected, this is the highest number recorded at 6 p.m. since the 4th wave of the pandemic.
Looking at the regions where confirmed cases have been reported so far, the metropolitan area accounts for 1,036 cases (70.8%), and non-metropolitan areas account for 428 cases (29.2%). By city and province, Gyeonggi has 477 cases, Seoul 465, Busan 96, Incheon 94, Gyeongnam 62, Daegu 45, Daejeon 40, Chungbuk 38, Gangwon 33, Chungnam 23, Gyeongbuk 22, Gwangju 20, Jeju 15, Jeonnam 14, Jeonbuk 9, Sejong 7, and Ulsan 4.
The number of new confirmed cases to be announced at midnight on the 28th is expected to be in the 1,700 range, possibly reaching around 1,800.
