[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Geoje City in Gyeongnam announced on the 27th that Samsung Heavy Industries is the only workplace in Gyeongnam to conduct on-site COVID-19 vaccinations.

This vaccination was promoted to establish herd immunity early by conducting on-site vaccinations for companies with affiliated clinics within the workplace.

Among the 43 workplaces nationwide conducting on-site vaccinations, Samsung Heavy Industries has a total of 19,531 eligible recipients, including subcontractor employees, ranking fourth largest in the country.

The first dose vaccinations are being carried out at the Samsung Heavy Industries Rest Center Gymnasium from the 27th to the 19th of next month, with about 30 personnel involved, and the second dose will follow in sequence.

Mayor Byeon Gwang-yong, who visited the site, encouraged Samsung Heavy Industries officials and urged safe and swift vaccination.

Mayor Byeon said, "With the resurgence of COVID-19, vaccination is more important than ever," adding, "We expect this large-scale vaccination to be an important opportunity to accelerate the early formation of herd immunity in the region."
