Sancheong-gun Advances Urban Regeneration New Deal Project Reflecting Local Residents' Voices

Sancheong-gun Advances Urban Regeneration New Deal Project Reflecting Local Residents' Voices Meeting of the Selection Committee for the Sancheong-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal Resident Proposal Project

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is promoting the Sancheong-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal Project that reflects the voices of residents.

On the 27th, according to Sancheong-gun and the Sancheong-gun Urban Regeneration Support Center, the Resident Public Contest Project Selection Committee, which promotes the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, has finally selected four projects for the '2021 1st Sancheong-eup Urban Regeneration New Deal Resident Public Contest Project.'

The projects selected in the contest include a side dish sharing project, village resting place creation and cleanup activities, operation of a study room for youth, and alley concerts. Each project is supported with a budget of 5 million KRW.

Among the four projects, the side dish sharing project and village cleanup activities were conducted last year through the resident public contest project. Due to high resident response and participation, they will be promoted again this year.

The youth study room also boasts a substantial program that has become well-known, attracting field visits from other regions.

The resident public contest project was directly conceived by the resident council of Sucheong and Sangbong villages in Sancheong-eup, the area subject to the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, reflecting the opinions of residents.

This year's resident public contest project will be promoted in two phases according to the decision of the resident council. The projects being implemented this time are the first phase, and the second phase announcement is scheduled for around October this year.

The resident public contest project, one of the core projects of the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, is a resident participation project where residents plan and operate activities themselves.

Residents directly discover and address various issues needed in the village, aiming to revitalize the community and improve quality of life. The goal is to establish a foundation for sustainable urban regeneration through these activities.

County Governor Lee Jae-geun said, “Resident groups that have accumulated experience and learned operational methods through past contest projects have submitted more substantial project plans this year. Residents themselves have considerable enthusiasm and expectations for project promotion. The administration will also actively support them.”
