[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A duo who assaulted a man in his 40s and stole money and valuables in a park in Seocho-gu, Seoul late at night were caught by the police.
On the 27th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced that they had applied for a pre-arrest warrant for two suspects, including A (16), a first-year high school student, on charges of robbery and injury.
A and the other suspect are accused of hitting a man in his 40s with their fists and stealing his mobile phone and other valuables at a park in Seocho-gu, Seoul around 2:40 a.m. on the 18th.
The victim, who was left alone with injuries on his face and other parts, reportedly lay collapsed in the park for about two hours before reporting the assault to the police. As the police narrowed down their investigation, A and the other suspect voluntarily appeared at the police station on the 21st accompanied by a lawyer. They reportedly admitted to most of the charges during the police investigation and expressed remorse.
The Seoul Central District Court held a pre-arrest detention hearing (warrant review) for A and the other suspect on the morning of the same day. The decision on whether they will be detained is expected to be made in the afternoon.
