[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Yangdong Administrative Welfare Center in Seo-gu, Gwangju (Director Kim Young-soo) recently received 18 electric fans (worth 1 million KRW) from an anonymous donor to help vulnerable groups during the summer heat.
According to Seo-gu Yangdong on the 27th, the anonymous donor currently living in Samcheonpo, Gyeongnam, has been supporting the 'Love Food Package' for years for neighbors in need in their hometown, having been born and raised in Yangdong.
This year, due to the ongoing severe heatwave, the donor decided to provide electric fans to low-income residents vulnerable to the heat.
The anonymous donor said, "I hope this small contribution will help the marginalized neighbors in my hometown who are suffering from the double hardship of COVID-19 and the heatwave."
Yangdong Administrative Welfare Center conducted a full survey of beneficiary households in the district, identified 18 low-income households whose fans were broken or who did not have fans, and personally delivered the fans.
Director Kim Young-soo said, "We are grateful to the donor who supported so that our neighbors in need can have a cool and healthy summer. Yangdong Administrative Welfare Center will continue to pay attention and strive to discover welfare blind spots so that no neighbor is left behind."
Meanwhile, Yangdong Administrative Welfare Center promotes welfare community projects such as "Sharing Affection with Side Dishes" and "Birthday Parties with Neighbors" every month to build a warm welfare system through practicing neighborly love in the local community.
