[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] Jeonnam Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 26th that two projects were selected in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘2021 Resident Life Innovation Case Expansion Support Project’ contest, receiving a special grant of 55 million KRW.
The ‘Resident Life Innovation Case Expansion Support Project’ is a project aimed at spreading excellent projects selected through various competitions or evaluations by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety among resident convenience improvement projects to other local governments.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety selects and supports excellent cities and counties through a public contest procedure targeting local governments that intend to adopt projects selected as excellent cases.
The county applied for two projects among excellent cases of local governments: ▲ Perfect Solution for Road Water Pooling (Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul) ▲ Mobile Call Service for Transportation Vulnerable (Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam), and both projects were selected.
The ‘Perfect Solution for Road Water Pooling’ project installs eco-friendly drainage devices in places where water pooling frequently occurs to resolve inconveniences caused by water pooling after rain.
The county plans to install eco-friendly smart drainage devices at 30 locations including crosswalks and bus stops, mainly on urban planning roads.
The ‘Mobile Call Service for Transportation Vulnerable’ is a bus boarding reservation system for transportation vulnerable people through a mobile app, preventing missed boarding of transportation vulnerable individuals.
Previously, the county has improved the quality of transportation welfare services for residents by introducing a 1000 KRW single fare bus system last year and operating a convenient 100 KRW taxi service for remote village residents and pregnant women.
A county official said, “Through this contest project, we expect to resolve residents’ inconveniences and create a more pleasant living environment,” adding, “We will continue to discover excellent innovation cases within the county and strive to expand them nationwide.”
