Goheung-gun, Vitality Boosted by Agreement with Agricultural, Fishery, and Livestock Cooperatives for Cultural City Development

Joining Hands for the Creation of Goheung Cultural City and Regional Cultural Development

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] On the 26th, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) signed a business agreement with 11 local agricultural, fishery, livestock, and forestry cooperatives to create a cultural city in Goheung.

Governor Song Gwi-geun and the heads of the 11 cooperatives promised to actively support, based on mutual trust, ▶support for spaces linked to the cultural city ▶development and joint implementation of cultural city content ▶cooperation in raising funds for the Goheung cultural city ▶promotion activities as the Goheung Cultural City Citizen Cooperation Group.

Through this agreement, the county has established a foundation for promoting win-win spaces and programs for the creation of the Goheung cultural city as a regional cultural community involving agricultural, fishery, and livestock cooperatives. It has also secured driving force for the promotion of specialized projects of the Goheung cultural city through cultural linkage and transformation of the primary and secondary industries.

Since last year, the county has been pursuing designation as a statutory preliminary cultural city, and based on the cultural capabilities accumulated so far, it is promoting various projects under three thematic areas: people, Motem, and joy, to realize the vision of “A joyful land where people gather, Motem Cultural City Goheung.”

Additionally, through the enactment of the ordinance concerning support for the Goheung cultural city, the county plans to strengthen the promotion organization by installing and operating a cultural city center and to leverage Goheung’s unique strengths through cooperative projects with related institutions.

Governor Song Gwi-geun of Goheung evaluated, “This agreement presents an innovative collaboration model of a new dimension for the creation of a cultural city, and through communication and exchange, a cooperative system for the sustainable Goheung cultural city project has been established.”

Meanwhile, officials attending the agreement pledged unlimited trust and support, saying, “We will actively cheer for and support Goheung-gun, which is challenging to build a new city brand.”

Going forward, the county plans to form networks by signing agreements with various practical institutions for the cultural city creation project with citizens and proceed with the cultural city project. Based on this, it will establish a foundation for diverse residents to voluntarily act as cultural agents.
