Suncheon-si Begins Voluntary COVID-19 Vaccination Program

Voluntary Vaccination for Workers in Food, Public Transportation, Delivery, and Sanitation Services

[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced that it will implement voluntary vaccinations starting from the 26th in accordance with the local government’s autonomous vaccination policy.

The voluntary vaccination targets citizens aged 18 to 49 among public transportation workers, delivery workers, sanitation workers, persons with disabilities, general restaurants, rest area restaurants, entertainment and karaoke bars, bathhouses, hair and beauty salons, and other public service workers.

However, those in their 50s who have already made reservations or been vaccinated, or those prioritized for vaccination in the first half of the year, are excluded.

The detailed schedule will be divided into two rounds depending on vaccine supply. The first round of advance reservations was completed by the 24th, and vaccinations will begin on the 26th. The second round of advance reservations will be held from the 26th to the 28th, with vaccinations starting from the 2nd of next month.

Vaccinations will be conducted at the Suncheon City Vaccination Center (Suncheon National University International Culture Convention Center) and 83 entrusted medical institutions, using Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.

Advance reservations can be made online through the COVID-19 Vaccination Reservation System, and inquiries can be directed to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency call center or the city vaccination call center for guidance.

A city official stated, “As nearby areas have recently experienced difficulties due to cluster infections, we will actively promote vaccinations so that as many citizens as possible can be vaccinated as quickly as possible.”
