[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 26th that it is providing 1:1 customized case management services to minimize care gaps for dementia patients caused by COVID-19 and to improve cognitive abilities.
The customized case management recipients are selected through the Dementia Case Management Committee's review, considering various situations, among dementia patients registered at the Dementia Safety Center who are in care blind spots or have complex problems due to dementia.
The case management team, composed of experts such as nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists, visits the homes of 484 selected elderly dementia patients one-on-one while complying with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, providing various services including health management (medication management, management of mental and behavioral symptoms), daily life management (provision of case management supplies, self-care skills education), family support (family counseling, communication methods), and community linkage.
In addition, in cases requiring urgent intervention due to emergencies, appropriate resource linkage and care services are actively provided according to the situation.
Governor Kim San said, “Dementia imposes significant physical, mental, and economic burdens not only on patients but also on their families, so we will continue to provide a wider range of services to contribute to improving the quality of life for patients and their families.”
