Formation of Joint Public-Private On-Site Inspection Response Team... Strengthening Surveillance Activities

Hampyeong-gun Issues 'High Water Temperature Warning' for Hampyeong Bay... Full Efforts to Prevent Aquaculture Damage

[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Jeollanam-do Hampyeong-gun announced on the 26th that the water temperature in Hampyeong Bay has continuously remained above 28℃, leading to the upgrade of the high water temperature advisory to a warning on the 20th.

Accordingly, the county plans to form a joint field inspection response team with Jeollanam-do and aquaculture farms, establishing countermeasures against high water temperatures to minimize damage to aquaculture farms through full-scale response efforts.

Since the 20th, the response team has visited aquaculture farms in Hampyeong Bay to check the breeding conditions of cultured species and water temperature, and has strengthened on-site guidance activities such as monitoring dissolved oxygen.

Additionally, aquaculture farms are provided with step-by-step response manuals to enable quick action in case of high water temperature occurrences, and recovery support measures are also guided in the event of mass mortality or other damages.

A county official stated, “During periods of high water temperature, abnormal conditions such as the appearance of cultured organisms may occur, so continuous monitoring is necessary,” and added, “The county will also strengthen surveillance activities to minimize fisheries damage.”

Meanwhile, a high water temperature warning is issued for waters where the temperature remains above 28℃ for three consecutive days or shows an increase of 5℃ or more compared to the previous day.
