KT Studio Genie-StoryWiz to Host Web Novel and Webtoon Contest with Total Prize of 100 Million Won

[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] KT Studio Genie, which oversees KT Group's content business, announced on the 26th that it will hold the "1st Web Novel & Webtoon Contest for Video Adaptation" together with StoryWiz, a subsidiary specializing in web novels and webtoons.

Through this contest, KT Studio Genie plans to discover and support excellent original IPs suitable for various video content, including dramas.

With a total prize of 100 million KRW, this contest accepts submissions of web novels and webtoons suitable for video adaptation for all age groups, regardless of genre or subject matter. The submission period is from September 1 to October 20. For the web novel category, participants must register their work on StoryWiz's web novel platform "Blyse" and separately submit a project proposal. For the webtoon category, manuscripts, project proposals, and character sheets must be submitted via email.

Web novels must be at least 100,000 characters (based on 5,000 characters including spaces per episode, with at least 20 episodes serialized), and webtoons must have at least 2 completed episodes to qualify. Creators aged 15 or older with fresh and unique ideas can participate regardless of whether they are newcomers or established authors.

KT Studio Genie and StoryWiz will evaluate the potential for video adaptation, story completeness, and originality of the subject and characters, and select a total of six works on December 7. The grand prize winner will receive 50 million KRW. All winning works will be given priority consideration as original IPs for KT Studio Genie to produce into video content such as dramas.

Kim Cheol-yeon, CEO of KT Studio Genie, said, "We planned this contest to discover and nurture talented creators with potential and capabilities, while simultaneously discovering and selecting fresh IPs to promote video adaptation, thereby adding greater value to stories." He added, "We will continue to focus on securing original IPs to strengthen KT Group's media content competitiveness together with StoryWiz."

Jeon Dae-jin, CEO of StoryWiz, said, "StoryWiz is KT Group's original content IP supply base, continuously discovering original IPs with potential for expansion into various formats." He added, "We look forward to the enthusiastic participation of creators with fresh and unique ideas in this contest."
