[Golf Topic] DeChambeau "COVID-19 Positive, Olympic Missed"... Reed 'Substitute Appearance'


[Asia Economy Reporter Noo Rae] ○…‘Hulk’ Bryson DeChambeau (USA, photo) will not participate in the Tokyo Olympics.


The PGA Tour announced on the 25th (Korean time), "DeChambeau tested positive in his final COVID-19 test before departing for Japan," and "Patrick Reed will take his place." DeChambeau expressed, "I am upset that I cannot represent the United States at the Olympics," adding, "Representing my country is very meaningful, and I was honored to be named to the team." He also said, "I wish the U.S. team good luck in Tokyo."


He continued, "From now on, I will focus on recovery," and added, "After overcoming COVID-19, I will show a good performance at the tournament." Reed shared his thoughts, saying, "I am very excited to compete in Tokyo as a representative of the United States." The U.S. team will include Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, and Reed. The men's golf event at the Tokyo Olympics will be held over four days starting on the 29th at Kasumigaseki Country Club in Saitama, Japan.
