Gwanak-gu Promotes Remodeling of Public and National Public Daycare Centers Including Wondang Daycare Center

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) announced that it is promoting a green remodeling project targeting aging public daycare centers.

In 2020, two centers (Gurip Hapsil Daycare Center, Gurip Wondang Daycare Center) and in 2021, one center (Gurip Geumgang Daycare Center) were selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public contest project, securing 477 million KRW in national funds and 51 million KRW in city funds to carry out the public building green remodeling project.

The public building green remodeling project involves remodeling aging public buildings (daycare centers, health centers, medical facilities) mainly used by children and the elderly to improve the energy performance and efficiency of the buildings.

First, in May, Gurip Hapsil Daycare Center and Gurip Wondang Daycare Center completed design services by LH Corporation, started construction in June, and plan to complete by December.

Through this project, construction will be carried out including high-performance windows, heat recovery ventilation systems, interior and exterior wall insulation materials, and high-efficiency heating and cooling systems to improve the energy efficiency of daycare centers and enhance the indoor environment where infants and toddlers stay.

Additionally, Gurip Geumgang Daycare Center will proceed with the project in 2022.

The district plans to continuously promote the green remodeling project for public daycare centers in the future.

Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “During the 7th local government term, Gwanak-gu is actively promoting the expansion and increased utilization of public daycare centers as a key project to strengthen public childcare and improve the quality of childcare services,” adding, “Through this green remodeling project, we will proceed without delay to raise the level of public daycare centers not only in terms of quantitative growth of childcare facilities but also qualitatively by creating a pleasant childcare environment.”
