Shin Jae-hwan (Jecheon City Hall), a male artistic gymnast, advanced to the vault final as the top qualifier. On the 24th, at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre in Tokyo, Japan, during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics men's artistic gymnastics team qualification, he achieved the highest average score of 14.866 in the first and second vault attempts. In artistic gymnastics, the team qualification results determine not only the eight teams advancing to the team final but also the eight individual finalists for each apparatus.

In his first attempt, Shin flawlessly executed the Yonekura skill with a difficulty of 6.0, earning a score of 15.100. In the second attempt, he performed the "Yeo 2" skill with a difficulty of 5.6, scoring 14.633. The final will take place on August 2.

However, in the second attempt, he attempted the "Yang 1" skill with a difficulty of 6.0 but fell on his buttocks upon landing, resulting in a score of 13.866.
