[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Seoul City announced that the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul was provisionally counted as 478 from 0:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the 24th, a total of 21 hours.

This is 28 more than the previous day (23rd) with 450 cases, and 33 fewer than last Saturday (17th) with 511 cases. The total number of cases per day was 465 on the 23rd and 523 on the 17th.

The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul rose to the 300s at the end of last month. Since then, the highest records were broken twice this month, with 583 cases on the 6th and 638 cases on the 13th. Recently, the daily number of confirmed cases has been fluctuating around 500.

During the recent fifteen days (9th to 23rd), an average of 503 people were confirmed positive daily in Seoul. The average number of tests per day was 68,084. The daily positivity rate (the number of confirmed cases on the day compared to the number of tests the previous day) fluctuated between 0.6% and 1.2%, with an average of around 0.7%.

On the 23rd, the number of COVID-19 tests conducted in Seoul was 75,089, which is higher than the recent fifteen-day average. Considering that test results usually come out the day after testing, most of the cases confirmed on the 24th are believed to have been tested the previous day.

As of 9:00 p.m. on the 24th, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul was provisionally counted as 61,606. Among the confirmed cases in Seoul, one additional death was identified during the 18 hours until 6:00 p.m. on the same day, increasing the cumulative death toll to 529.
