[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The Syrian civil war monitoring group reported that 21 civilians were killed by government forces' shelling in the rebel-held area of northwestern Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, headquartered in London, UK, stated on the 22nd (local time) that Syrian government forces shelled the village of Iblin in the southern part of Idlib province in the northwest, killing 7 civilians, including 4 children. On the same day, 14 people lost their lives due to government shelling in the villages of Sarja and Ehshin, among whom 7 were children, it added.

Idlib province in the northwest is a stronghold of rebels opposing President Bashar al-Assad. Since the outbreak of the civil war in 2011, Syria has been divided between government forces led by President al-Assad and rebel forces, continuing the conflict for 10 years.
