[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] As the South Korean delegation enters 103rd in the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony, "Volleyball Emperor" Kim Yeon-koung and "Swimming Rising Star" Hwang Sun-woo were chosen as flag bearers.
The list of flag bearers for the 206 teams participating in the opening ceremony, which will take place at 8 PM on the 23rd at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, has been finalized. The organizing committee announced the list through the official event information website "MyInfo" on the same day.
According to Olympic tradition, Greece, the host of the first modern Olympics, enters first, followed by the Refugee Olympic Team. After that, countries enter in the order of the Japanese language and according to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) standards.
For South Korea, entering 103rd, Kim Yeon-koung (volleyball) and Hwang Sun-woo (swimming) will serve as flag bearers.
The host country Japan will enter last. Rui Hachimura (basketball) and Yui Susaki (wrestling) were selected as flag bearers. The next Olympic host country, France, will have Clarisse Agbegnenou (judo) and Samir Ait Said (gymnastics) as flag bearers.
