[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Gangwon Province and Pyeongchang County are working to attract the Green Bio Venture Campus to the Green Bio-exclusive Industry-Academia Cooperation Complex at Seoul National University Pyeongchang Campus.

The province stated on the 23rd, "We submitted the site proposal for the campus establishment on the 9th, and received an on-site evaluation for the Green Bio Venture Campus site the day before (22nd)."

To attract the campus, Gangwon Province and Pyeongchang County decided to provide administrative incentives, including the largest Gangwon-type Venture New Deal Fund among local governments nationwide (worth 170 billion KRW) and support for up to 20% of the Green Bio Venture Campus operation costs.

Additionally, to support the residence and daily life of the venture campus operating institutions and venture entrepreneurs, 30 rental housing units of 99㎡ (30 pyeong) in size and 20 single-person dormitory rooms will be separately provided.

Moreover, sports complex facilities, daycare centers, and guest houses for business purposes will also be provided within the Pyeongchang Campus.

Meanwhile, to ensure the settlement of Green Bio venture companies, partnerships will be formed with GBST (Seoul National University Green Bio Science and Technology Institute), KIST Gangneung Branch Natural Products Research Institute, and Chuncheon Bio Industry Promotion Agency.

GBST will share advanced analytical equipment and other joint device centers of its five affiliated research institutes and support specialized personnel for Green Bio R&D.

KIST Natural Products Research Institute will support technology transfer of Green Bio new materials and joint research and development, while Chuncheon Bio Industry Promotion Agency will provide consulting for product commercialization and domestic and international product launching and marketing.

The province expects that attracting the Green Bio Venture Campus project will help foster a new Green Bio industry that integrates IT and BT-related technologies centered on the five promising Green Bio industries.
