[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) held an opening ceremony on the 23rd to celebrate the opening of the ‘Eoullim Welfare Center’ created through the station area urban regeneration project.
The opening ceremony was held simply with fewer than 30 attendees, including residents using the facilities, due to the local spread of COVID-19. The event proceeded in order with the presentation of a commemorative booklet, delivery of a health wish scroll, and a commemorative photo session.
The Eoullim Welfare Center was established in June as part of the station area urban regeneration project aimed at restoring the village community. Based on resident surveys and on-site investigations, it consists of two buildings: the ‘Care Safety Housing (No. 2),’ which provides integrated medical and care support for elderly residents discharged from hospitals or facilities until their housing and health stabilize, and the ‘Eoullim Welfare Center,’ which offers meals and health programs for the elderly residents.
The second-floor space, currently used as the station area urban regeneration field support center, is planned to be utilized as a childcare space in the future. It is expected to play a central role in providing care for elderly and children within the station area.
Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon said, “We expect the Eoullim Welfare Center, created through the urban regeneration project, to play a significant role in helping the elderly regain a healthy daily life,” and added, “We will continue to expand living SOC to implement a happy care system.”
