[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] North Korea has been repeatedly claiming the "U.S. behind-the-scenes theory" regarding the anti-government protests that took place in Cuba.

On the 22nd, North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on its website, "In Havana and other cities, mass rallies were held to suppress anti-government protests challenging the revolutionary government and to condemn and reject hostile forces' interference in internal affairs," adding, "The Cuban people's struggle to repel U.S. interference and firmly uphold the banner of socialism will surely succeed." This is the third time the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has mentioned Cuba, following statements on the 16th and 21st.

The Ministry quoted Cuban President Miguel D?az-Canel, claiming that the recent protests are "the result of the U.S.'s behind-the-scenes manipulation aimed at annihilating socialism and the revolution, along with persistent anti-Cuba blockade actions."

It also pointed out, "Recently, at the United Nations General Assembly, a resolution to withdraw the U.S. economic, trade, and financial blockade against Cuba was adopted again," stating, "This is the universal voice of the international community." This appears to be an indirect criticism suggesting that economic sanctions have worsened Cuba's economic difficulties, triggering the anti-government protests.
