KOSDAQ Also Starts with an Increase
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI opened slightly higher in early trading, buoyed by simultaneous buying by foreigners and institutions.
On the 22nd, the KOSPI opened at 3,235.39, up 0.61% (19.48 points) from the previous day. By 9:25 a.m., it had risen to 3,243.69.
In early trading, simultaneous buying by foreigners and institutions is driving the index up. They net purchased 28.5 billion KRW and 71.2 billion KRW respectively. Individuals net sold 103 billion KRW.
Almost all sectors are on the rise. The steel and metal sector showed the largest gain at 1.71%. This was followed by finance (1.36%), insurance (1.24%), securities (1.20%), and telecommunications (1.09%). Medical precision (-0.67%) and textiles and apparel (-0.65%) declined.
Most of the top 10 market capitalization stocks are also rising. SK Hynix showed the largest increase at 1.71%. This was followed by Samsung Electronics (1.15%), LG Chem (1.11%), Kia (0.92%), NAVER (0.70%), Hyundai Motor (0.66%), Kakao (0.34%), and Samsung SDI (0.27%). Samsung Biologics (-0.33%) and Celltrion (-0.19%) declined.
The KOSDAQ also opened higher at 1,046.51, up 0.43% (4.48 points) from the previous day. By 9:25 a.m., it had risen to 1,049.50.
In the KOSDAQ market, foreigners and individuals bought 14.1 billion KRW and 40.5 billion KRW respectively. Institutions sold 45.5 billion KRW.
Most sectors are on the rise. The semiconductor sector showed the largest gain at 3.01%. This was followed by information devices (2.11%), IT hardware (1.80%), non-metallics (1.39%), and digital content (1.30%). Paper and wood (-0.39%), pharmaceuticals (-0.37%), and transportation equipment and parts (-0.19%) declined.
The top 10 market capitalization stocks showed a somewhat mixed trend. SK Materials showed the largest increase at 5.19%. This was followed by Kakao Games (3.62%), Pearl Abyss (1.15%), CJ ENM (0.58%), and Celltrion Healthcare (0.17%). EcoPro BM (-2.11%), Seegene (-2.03%), HLB (-0.87%), Alteogen (-0.78%), and Celltrion Pharm (-0.60%) declined.
