[Asia Economy Reporter La Youngcheol] Guri City, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 19th that "from the 19th to the 23rd, as a preemptive response measure to the elevation of social distancing to Level 4 in the metropolitan area, three additional buses will be operated on congested routes during commuting hours."


According to the city, an analysis of congestion routes, congestion occurrence times, and sections during commuting hours at bus stops on 14 bus routes in Guri City revealed that Route 95 (Dasan District~Gangbyeon Station) experienced full capacity from 6:50 AM to 7:55 AM, and Route 1-1 (Uijeongbu~Gangbyeon Station) was full from 6:45 AM to 8:25 AM.


The number of passengers boarding at each stop for Route 95 was highest in the order of ▲Daerim·Hana Apartment stop ▲Guri Hanyang Apartment stop ▲Milal Mart·Guri Social Welfare Center·Sintopyeong Food Street stop.


For Route 1-1, the stops with the most passengers were ▲Geonyeong·Seongwon Apartment·Donggu-dong Administrative Welfare Center stop ▲Baetal Hill·Ilsin Geonyeong Apartment stop ▲Inchang-dong Administrative Welfare Center·Cultural Center stop, in that order.


Accordingly, the city increased the number of buses by three starting today, adding two buses to Route 95 and one bus to Route 1-1 through consultations with the respective transportation companies.


Mayor Ahn Seungnam stated, "We will implement high-intensity social distancing by dispersing passengers on full-capacity buses and strive to ensure citizens' safe commute from the threat of COVID-19 infection."
