Goheung-gun Hosts Motem School Workshop for Cultural City

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 16th that it is accelerating efforts to be designated as the 4th statutory preliminary cultural city by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Based on the cultural power cultivated through last year's cultural city promotion, various projects are being carried out under the business areas of People, Motem, and Enjoyment to realize the vision of "A joyful land where people gather, Motem Cultural City Goheung."

Accordingly, the county is promoting the citizen cultural planning project for discovering and nurturing people called "Goheung Cultural City Motem School."

Motem School is composed of an educational curriculum aimed at expanding the cultural base and fostering the Goheung cultural ecosystem by training cultural professionals equipped with the capabilities of 'Practitioner,' 'Social Person,' 'Cultural Person,' and 'Creator,' with about 30 citizens actively participating.

Furthermore, Motem School continues to recruit students, and any resident living in the county who will help create Goheung Cultural City can participate.

At the Motem School workshop held since the 14th, mentors including Director Choi Ji-man of Life Zone Research Institute, CEO Joo Sung-jin of Cultural Service, Research Planning Director Oh Eun-young of Cultural Daum, and Director Mo Se-hwan of the Cultural City Center participated in a network-type, cooperative education process such as conceptualizing cultural planning and realizing cultural planning.

This workshop was conducted with a new educational method such as forming subgroups by topic, receiving high responses from participating citizens, and sought ways to resolve social issues through culture.

To motivate education participants, prize money will be awarded to a total of four teams planned during the education process: 1st place (1 team) 500,000 KRW, 2nd place (2 teams) 200,000 KRW, and 3rd place (1 team) 100,000 KRW in Goheung Love Gift Certificates.

Governor Song Gwi-geun encouraged the participants, saying, "The cultural city project is a process created by the active participation of citizens, and the discourse of the cultural city will be an opportunity to elevate the level of Goheung's culture. I ask the citizens to become various active agents in the cultural city project."

Meanwhile, the county operates the resident cultural city platform "Goheung Cultural Motem" to share diverse opinions of citizens and promote dynamic progress. It has also enacted ordinances related to the creation and support of the cultural city and formed and appointed the Cultural City Promotion Committee.

In addition, the county is newly shaping Goheung Cultural City by establishing the Cultural City Center, a specialized urban management organization, and promoting pioneering projects.
