Gwangyang-si, Social Distancing Raised to Level 2 Measures

Private Gatherings Limited to 8 People, Operating Hours Restricted for Entertainment Venues

[Gwangyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Jeonnam Gwangyang City recently reported 1 confirmed case on the 7th, 8 cases on the 15th, and 1 case on the 16th. Accordingly, it announced that the COVID-19 social distancing level will be raised to Level 2 from 0:00 on July 16 to 24:00 on July 31.

The main points of social distancing Level 2 are as follows.

Private gatherings of 9 or more people are prohibited, and reservations and accompanied entry of 9 or more people at multi-use facilities are banned. Events and assemblies of 100 or more people are prohibited.

Entertainment facilities (including pubs, karaoke bars, clubs, nightclubs, etc.) and singing practice rooms are restricted to operate from midnight to 5 a.m. the next day, and the number of people is limited to one person per 8㎡ (one person per 10㎡ for clubs and nightclubs).

Restaurants and cafes are strongly recommended to limit the time spent inside the premises to 1 hour when ordering coffee, beverages, or desserts for two or more people, and only takeout and delivery are allowed from midnight to 5 a.m. the next day.

Wedding halls and funeral halls are limited to one person per 4㎡ per hall and fewer than 100 people in total. Bathhouses have no operating hour restrictions, but the use of sleeping rooms is prohibited.

Religious facilities are limited to 50% of total capacity (with one seat spacing), and gatherings and meals organized by religious activities are prohibited.

Deputy Mayor Kim Kyungho said, “Raising social distancing to Level 2 will cause significant inconvenience to citizens’ daily lives and livelihoods, but we ask for your understanding of the seriousness of the situation and active cooperation,” and emphasized, “Please refrain from visiting other regions such as the metropolitan area, minimize face-to-face contact, and strictly follow daily quarantine rules such as always wearing masks.”
