[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] Singer Lee Ji-hye revealed an anecdote about broadcaster Sayuri asking her for eggs to have a second child. Sayuri previously attracted attention by becoming pregnant and giving birth after receiving a sperm donation.
On the 15th, a video titled "Everything About IVF Told by the Attention-Seeking Sister. Advice from Frozen Egg Senior Sayuri" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Mipji Anheun Gwanjong Eonni' (Not Annoying Attention-Seeking Sister).
In the video, Lee Ji-hye said, "I had a hard time having my second child. Many people are curious about IVF, so I will explain everything," adding, "I am not an expert. Since I am not a doctor, the most important thing is to consult with your attending physician."
Lee Ji-hye said, "Many people wonder whether freezing eggs is good or not. Sayuri and I are almost the first generation of frozen eggs," and then called Sayuri.
Sayuri said, "I regret a little that we didn’t explain properly. There are many things that don’t work at this age," adding, "You have to do it in your 20s." Lee Ji-hye also emphasized, "The point is that it’s better to do it when you’re young. You should freeze your eggs by your early 30s at the latest."
After finishing the call with Sayuri, Lee Ji-hye said, "In Sayuri’s case, she actually asked me for eggs. But my husband and I don’t give eggs," adding, "Sayuri’s mother is funny too. She said, ‘If I get eggs from Ji-hye, I think she’ll sing well,’ and asked me for them. But I didn’t give any eggs. It’s none of my business," which brought laughter.
Lee Ji-hye then advised those considering freezing eggs, "Don’t be discouraged. Refer to what I went through and I hope you get good news," adding, "You have to calm yourself and try to have a positive mindset. It may not go well, but you have to try. If I don’t do it, no one else can."
Lee Ji-hye’s husband said, "Watching from the side, egg retrieval is no joke. You keep getting large injections. Even if you can endure it physically, the mental aspect can be difficult. I couldn’t do it, but husbands need to support their wives well."
