[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] As Samsung Electronics warns against excessive leaks of new product information ahead of next month's Galaxy Unpacked event, specifications and release schedules for the smartwatch 'Galaxy Watch4' series have been leaked not by IT tipsters but on Amazon's website.
According to IT media GSM Arena and others on the 14th (local time), cached versions of Amazon Canada's website revealed model sizes and official rendering images of the 'Galaxy Watch4' and 'Galaxy Watch4 Classic'.
According to Amazon Canada's website, the Galaxy Watch4 Classic will be released in two sizes: 42mm and 46mm. Both Galaxy Watch4 Classic models are made of stainless steel including a rotating bezel, and come in black and white colors. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch4 will be released in 40mm and 44mm sizes made of aluminum.
The display size of the watches is 1.36 inches for the 44mm and 46mm models, and 1.19 inches for the 40mm and 42mm models. Battery capacity is 361mAh for the 44mm and 46mm models, and 247mAh for the 40mm and 42mm models. The 'Special Features' section on the website confirms that both products include body composition analysis, sleep and heart rate monitoring, and blood oxygen level monitoring functions.
Since it is a retailer's website, price information and release dates were also disclosed. The Galaxy Watch4 Classic 42mm and 46mm models are priced at 428 Canadian dollars (about 390,000 KRW) and 464 Canadian dollars (about 430,000 KRW) respectively, while the Galaxy Watch4 40mm and 44mm are priced at 310 Canadian dollars (about 290,000 KRW) and 347 Canadian dollars (about 320,000 KRW), which is lower than previous market expectations.
The release date is expected to be August 27 as previously anticipated. Samsung Electronics will unveil the Galaxy Watch4 series, as well as foldable smartphones 'Galaxy Z Fold3' and 'Galaxy Z Flip3', and wireless earbuds 'Galaxy Buds2' at the Galaxy Unpacked event on the 11th of next month.
