"An Exchange and Communication Channel for E-Book Deposit and Library Policy Review"
On the 14th, the National Library of Korea announced that it will operate a Book Submission Support Center on the first floor of the Wisdom Forest at the Paju Publishing City Cultural Foundation until the end of the year to facilitate smooth legal deposit submissions. Legal deposit is a system that requires newly published works to be compulsorily submitted to designated institutions. In accordance with Article 20 of the Library Act, the National Library of Korea receives published materials from each publisher. The Book Submission Support Center provides services including material collection, online and offline legal deposit consultations, and training on how to use the deposit system. It also holds electronic book legal deposit briefings in collaboration with publishing professional organizations. An official stated, "This was planned to improve the electronic book legal deposit rate and provide close promotional support," adding, "We aim to make it a communication and exchange channel to review not only electronic book deposits but also library policies."
