[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] The Ministry of National Defense is reportedly planning to urgently appoint a special prosecutor to the joint investigation team handling the investigation into the death of an Air Force non-commissioned officer who was a victim of sexual harassment.
According to military sources on the 13th, the Ministry of National Defense is understood to be planning to appoint Colonel Go Min-sook (Jin), the head of the Naval Headquarters Prosecutor's Office, as a special prosecutor under the leadership of Prosecutor General Choi Kwang-hyuk, who leads the joint investigation team.
The appointment is expected to take place as early as this week.
Colonel Go is known as the Navy's first female legal officer and the first female colonel to be promoted, and this appointment appears to take into account the fact that this case involves a sexual harassment death. It is also interpreted as a measure to make up for recent criticisms of the military prosecution's 'investigation delays.'
