[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] Reservations for COVID-19 vaccinations for those aged 55 to 59, which began on the 12th, were closed early due to depletion of vaccine stock, and the authorities have decided to resume advance reservations from the 19th.
The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team announced on the 12th in a press release, "As of midnight on the 12th, advance reservations for COVID-19 vaccinations for the 55-59 age group, scheduled from the 26th of this month to August 7th, were conducted, and through active participation of the public, 1.85 million advance reservations were completed by around 3:30 PM on the same day."
The Promotion Team explained, "For those aged 55-59 who were unable to make a reservation this time, additional reservations will be conducted starting from the 19th," and added, "The vaccination schedule will proceed according to the already announced timetable." Specific reservation periods and dates will be announced within this week.
The Promotion Team emphasized, "Since vaccines are currently supplied on a weekly basis, to minimize inconvenience to the public, reservations are accepted only after the detailed supply schedule and quantities are confirmed," and added, "Future vaccinations will proceed smoothly according to the previously announced vaccination plan."
Regarding delays and errors during the advance reservation process for the 55-59 age group, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency stated, "There were difficulties when the number of simultaneous connections exceeded initial expectations," and added, "We will promptly prepare improvement measures to quickly distribute network load."
