Goseong-gun Appoints Three 'Rights Protectors' for, by, and of Children

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 12th that it held an appointment ceremony for the Child Rights Protector (Ombudsperson), a spokesperson to guarantee children's rights.

The Ombudsperson is a kind of spokesperson exclusively for children who uses an independent status to make recommendations to guarantee children's rights and to provide remedy and advocacy when cases of child rights violations occur.

To create a UNICEF Child-Friendly City, the county appointed Lawyer Lim Gi-tae of Lim Gi-tae Law Office, Professor Kim Hyun-ok of the Department of Social Welfare at Gyeongsang National University, and Center Director Byeon Jin-hee of the Wee Center at Goseong Office of Education.

County Governor Baek Doo-hyun said, "The role of the Ombudsperson is important for children's rights to be respected and protected," adding, "We will do our best to create a child-friendly city where all children are respected, grow up happily, and have their rights guaranteed."
