[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] InscoBi announced on the 12th that it has obtained a Chinese patent for the ‘biological implant for hair growth promotion,’ which is effective for improving and treating hair loss.
This patent is the same as those obtained in Korea, Japan, and the United States, and it is expected to accelerate the entry into the Chinese hair loss market, which has high market potential with 250 million people experiencing hair loss symptoms. The company explained that especially the young generation in their 20s and 30s, who have high purchasing power, account for about 75% of the total hair loss population, showing high interest not only in hair loss prevention products but also in treatments.
Recently, there has been growing interest in hair loss treatments that enhance convenience, such as injectable and implantable types, compared to oral hair loss treatments. This is because they can achieve higher effectiveness with a smaller amount of medication than oral treatments, and the effects are expected to last for several months after a single injection or implantation.
The patent obtained by InscoBi this time is for an implantable hair loss treatment that implants stem cells cultured under specific conditions into the body through an implant device (capsule), enhancing hair growth effects, drawing attention. Based on the acquisition of patents in Korea, Japan, the United States, and now China, the company plans to accelerate non-clinical research.
A company representative said, “As major domestic pharmaceutical companies such as Chong Kun Dang, Daewoong Pharmaceutical, and Withus Pharmaceutical are entering the development of injectable hair loss treatments, InscoBi will also speed up the development of implantable hair loss treatments based on the basic research it has conducted so far,” adding, “By acquiring multiple domestic and international patents for implantable hair loss treatments that can complement the shortcomings of existing hair loss treatments and enhance therapeutic effects, we will be able to expedite our entry into the global hair loss market.”
