[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Samsung Electronics has unveiled the main schedule for the '5th Samsung Security Technology Forum (SSTF)' to be held on the 17th of next month, and started online registration from the 12th.
SSTF is an event held annually since 2017 by Samsung Electronics to expand the base of information security technology and nurture talent. It is a venue where world-renowned security experts, academia, and industry professionals gather to share the latest achievements in the field of security technology.
Starting this year, Samsung Research's global technology events will be integrated into the 'Samsung Tech Forum,' with events on security technology, open source, and artificial intelligence (AI) scheduled to be held sequentially within the year.
This year's SSTF, held online, will proceed under the theme "Toward a Safe & Reliable Experience," featuring keynote speeches by experts and technical sessions sharing major research activities in the security field by Samsung Research.
President Seung Hyun-joon, head of Samsung Research Institute, and Executive Director Hwang Yong-ho, head of Samsung Research Security Team, will open the keynote speeches. Lectures will follow from Professor Ross Anderson of the Department of Computer Science, University of Cambridge, UK; Professor Mustaque Ahmad of the Information Security and Privacy Research Institute, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA; Professor Konstantin Beznosov of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia, Canada; and Professor Lee Byung-young of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Seoul National University.
Additionally, an online hacking experience zone will be provided for white hackers who study security vulnerabilities to defend against hacking. This zone is open to everyone from beginners to advanced participants and offers various content such as basic hacking practice and simulated hacking exercises available 24 hours a day.
President Seung stated, "We plan to hold the Samsung Tech Forum annually to share and discuss core technologies for a better future with global experts," adding, "Through regular technology exchanges, we expect to expand the base and strengthen the competitiveness of future technologies envisioned by Samsung Electronics."
Online registration is available from today until August 17. Following the Security Technology Forum, the Open Source Conference will be held online on October 13-14, and the AI Forum on November 2.
