Dongdaemun-gu Provides Up to 300,000 KRW Support for Adopting Abandoned Animals

Support for Adoption Fees Including Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Costs to Promote Pet Adoption Culture

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) is supporting up to 300,000 KRW adoption fees for residents who adopt abandoned animals from the Dongdaemun-gu Animal Protection Center (Korea Animal Rescue Management Association, Yangju, Gyeonggi-do) to promote the culture of pet adoption.

Residents of Dongdaemun-gu who adopt abandoned animals for companionship purposes after July 1 of this year can receive support for items such as ▲disease diagnosis fees ▲treatment fees ▲vaccinations ▲neutering surgery fees ▲implantable animal registration fees ▲grooming fees.

Eligible residents must obtain an adoption confirmation certificate from the Dongdaemun-gu Animal Protection Center and receive treatment for each item at one of the three designated animal hospitals within Dongdaemun-gu. They only need to pay costs exceeding 300,000 KRW.

You Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Through this abandoned animal adoption fee support project, we aimed to reduce euthanasia of abandoned animals and lessen the economic burden of adopting abandoned animals. We will do our best to promote abandoned animal adoption and establish a mature pet culture.”
