[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Kim Eui-gyeom, a member of the Open Democratic Party, criticized the doctoral dissertation of Kim Geon-hee, wife of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, saying "In a word, it is shabby."

On the 9th, on TBS Radio's 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory,' Rep. Kim evaluated the recently accused dissertation of Kim, saying, "There are many plagiarized parts. It would have been better if she plagiarized a somewhat sophisticated thesis, but she plagiarized Naver blogs and articles."

He claimed, "Basic elements such as sentences, spelling, and incorrect English were not properly filled in." In the case of Kim's academic paper published in 2007 in the Korea Design Forum titled 'A Study on Member Retention and Withdrawal According to Satisfaction and Dissatisfaction of Online Fortune-telling Content Users,' part of the original thesis title, '회원 유지' (member retention), was mistranslated as 'member Yuji.'

Rep. Kim continued, "Members of Kookmin University should be truly outraged," adding, "Especially those who have already received or are preparing for a doctoral degree at Kookmin University must feel how disheartening this is."

He then said, "You poured your blood and sweat into creating your thesis, dedicating your youth, and yet Kookmin University awarded a doctoral degree in this manner? How would others perceive this?"

Rep. Kim also explained, "Kim received 90 million won in support from the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) to develop an app for physiognomy and compatibility," adding, "Kim received this support around 2006-2007, but in fact, someone else had already created a physiognomy app patent in 2004."

He continued, "Kim turned that content (app development and operation) directly into her doctoral dissertation," criticizing, "So she infringed on someone else's patent, received government support to develop the app, and simply changed the form of the business plan to create her doctoral dissertation."

He added, "She also copied and pasted content published by KOCCA directly into her doctoral dissertation," and stated, "We requested related materials, but KOCCA coincidentally said that part is missing. We are continuing to request the materials."
