[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province announced the full revision of the "Ordinance on Address Information, etc." for legislative notice on the 9th.
Earlier, the government fully revised the Road Name Address Act, shifting the focus from road names to addresses, and it came into effect on the 9th of last month.
This law expands the scope of addresses, which were previously assigned based on roads and buildings, to include places without road names such as overpasses, underground internal passages inside buildings, forest paths, and farm roads.
The ordinance draft follows the revision of the Road Name Address Act, changing the ordinance's title from "Road Name Address" to "Address Information."
Accordingly, the existing regulation that uses the names of all roads in Gyeonggi Province as road names has been expanded to utilize address information for indicating locations of vacant lots along roadsides, various facilities, buildings, and so forth.
In addition, the province revised provisions related to the composition and operation of the Gyeonggi Province Address Information Committee and newly established clauses for budget preparation to prevent safety accidents that may arise from address information facilities.
This fully revised ordinance draft will be submitted to the provincial council by the governor after legislative review and related procedures following the legislative notice. It will be finalized through deliberation and resolution by the provincial council in the second half of the year.
The legislative notice can be viewed on the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website. Residents with opinions can visit or submit their views by mail or fax to the Gyeonggi Province Land Information Division by the 29th.
