On the 7th (local time), according to CNN, NBC, and other broadcasts, Robert Downey Jr. announced the news of his father Robert Downey Sr.'s passing through his Instagram.
On Instagram, he stated, "Our father peacefully passed away last night after a long battle with Parkinson's disease," adding, "He was an original and distinctive film director who always lived an optimistic life."
Robert Downey Sr. was active as a film actor, director, and producer, and among the films he directed are 'Greaser's Palace' and 'Putney Swope.'
In particular, the 1969 film 'Putney Swope' drew attention for its candid depiction of the life of a Black man working in the advertising industry and the widespread racial discrimination in Hollywood and the advertising world at the time. The film was also included in New York Magazine's list of 'Top 10 Films of the Year.'
Additionally, Robert Downey Jr. appeared in films directed by his father.
When he was a child in 1970, Robert Downey Jr. appeared as a supporting actor in the film 'Pound,' directed by his father, and later in 1991, he starred in his father's other directed comedy film 'Too Much Sun.'
