[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Hong Joon-pyo, a member of the People Power Party, criticized Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung's 'pants remark' controversy as "inappropriate behavior" and urged him to "clearly clarify the truth."

On the 6th, Hong posted on his Facebook, "Trying to cover up the situation with bizarre behavior like singer Na Hoon-a to overcome the scandal of free romance against himself is truly inappropriate behavior," he criticized.

He pointed out, "In the case of singer Na Hoon-a, he was only troubled by rumors, but in Governor Lee's case, there is a clear victim currently existing, and that victim is still appealing their grievance."

He continued, "In the 2007 Grand National Party primary process, even the late Choi Tae-min appeared and underwent verification, so avoiding the verification of the president's morality in such a way is not the right conduct," he sharply criticized.

He advised, "If the truth is not revealed to the public without any suspicion, harsher scrutiny will await in the main election. Since you have already apologized for the harsh words toward your family, clear the suspicions, pass the verification, and proceed to the main election." Governor Lee recently admitted the truth about a recorded conversation in which he insulted his sister-in-law and publicly apologized, saying, "I ask for forgiveness for my shortcomings. I am sorry."

Meanwhile, on the 5th, during the Democratic Party presidential primary TV debate, when asked about the scandal with actress Kim Bu-seon, Governor Lee responded with visible discomfort, saying, "Shall I pull my pants down once more?" Some speculated that this was a parody of singer Na Hoon-a's 2008 press conference where he pulled down his pants while explaining a scandal with an actress, saying, "Do I have to show it myself?"
