[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Contrary to initial expectations, Samsung Electronics' new wireless earphones 'Galaxy Buds2,' expected to be released next month, are likely to include Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) functionality.
On the 6th (local time), IT specialized media PhoneArena and SamMobile reported, citing famous IT tipster Ice Universe, that the Galaxy Buds2 will be equipped with ANC.
According to the released images, the ANC option can be seen in the synchronized 'Galaxy Wearable' app for the Galaxy Buds2. If ANC is added to the Galaxy Buds2, it will become Samsung Electronics' third earbuds model equipped with ANC functionality.
ANC is a technology that detects the sound wave of surrounding noise through microphones inside or outside the earphones, then reverses the phase of the sound wave and emits the inverted sound through the speaker to reduce noise by destructive interference with the surrounding noise. It is relatively superior to Passive Noise Control (PNC), which absorbs noise using sound-absorbing materials such as sponges.
If the Galaxy Buds2 is equipped with ANC, considering the expected release price, the product's marketability is expected to increase significantly. PhoneArena evaluated, "Even if some features provided by the Galaxy Buds Pro are downgraded, if it is released at a price around $150, it will be one of the best wireless earphones." Currently, the price of the Galaxy Buds2 is expected to be set around $149 to $169 (approximately 170,000 to 190,000 KRW).
Looking at the previously released renderings of the Galaxy Buds2, the design is similar to the Galaxy Buds Pro. The exterior of the product case is white, and the interior color is a two-tone design allowing selection from four colors. The interior colors will be released in black, green, purple, and white. According to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Galaxy Buds2 charging case will have a 500mAh battery, and each earbud will have a 60mAh battery. The charging speed is 2.5 watts (W) for the case and 0.6W for the earbuds.
The Galaxy Buds2 is scheduled to be unveiled at Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Unpacked event on the 11th of next month, alongside the company's next-generation foldable smartphones 'Galaxy Z Fold3' and 'Galaxy Z Flip3,' as well as the smartwatch 'Galaxy Watch4.'
