[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, has encouraged joining the Democratic Party presidential election electorate through Facebook.
On the 5th, Governor Lee posted on Facebook, "You can join (the electorate) even if you are not a party member," and urged, "Please join the Democratic Party presidential candidate electorate together with your family and relatives."
He continued, "Please also share this note with your acquaintances to encourage them to apply," emphasizing, "The person you elect will become the president, and he will create the fair country you desire."
He added, "Please apply immediately at win.theminjoo.kr," and "ARS 1668-2022 and phone 1668-1111 are also available."
Earlier, Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party, warned sternly at a Kwanhun Club invitation debate held at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, saying, "Those who loudly claim to protect President Moon Jae-in as 'Ddakgae-moon' (hardcore pro-Moon party members) cannot protect President Moon the moment they carelessly think 'If (the party candidate) wins, the opposition is better.'"
Leader Song emphasized, "At the end of President Roh Moo-hyun's term, candidate Jeong Dong-young was nominated, and some pro-Roh factions did not vote because of the atmosphere that it was better for opposition candidate Lee Myung-bak to win than Jeong Dong-young, resulting in Lee Myung-bak's victory by an overwhelming margin of 5 million votes," adding, "As a result, a tragic situation occurred where President Roh Moo-hyun passed away due to thorough prosecutorial retaliation."
He added, "Extreme supporters within the party who think 'No matter who wins, absolutely not, I'd rather vote for the opposition' are a minority," and "The role of the party leader is to accept the results regardless of who wins and unite as one team."
