This is a meaningful achievement as American consumers in the premium market recognized the durability, service quality, and eco-friendliness of LG Electronics products.
According to the industry on the 2nd, LG Electronics ranked 2nd among 28 brands in the '2021 Home Appliance Brand Reliability Ranking' recently released by the American consumer media Consumer Reports. Considering that the brand ranked 1st overall is Speed Queen, a U.S. specialist manufacturer of washers and dryers, it is analyzed that LG Electronics received the highest score as a comprehensive home appliance brand producing all types of home appliances.
Consumer Reports has been conducting home appliance brand evaluations based on customer trust since 2019. The evaluation targets home appliances purchased by members from 2010 to 2020, investigating failure rates over five years to compile comprehensive reliability scores and rankings by brand. The categories include eight product groups: washing machines, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers, electric and gas ranges, cooktops, wall ovens, and over-the-range (OTR) microwaves.
LG Electronics received the highest score of 73 among comprehensive home appliance companies producing all eight product groups under evaluation. It earned the highest grade of 'Excellent' in reliability for washing machines, dryers, and cooktops including induction, and also received 'Very Good' ratings in electric and gas ranges, wall ovens, and over-the-range microwave sections, overwhelming competing companies.
In this evaluation, Caf?, a sub-brand of the U.S. comprehensive home appliance company GE, and Swedish furniture and household goods brand IKEA tied for 3rd place behind LG Electronics, while LG Electronics’ ultra-premium built-in brand Signature Kitchen Suite ranked 8th. Whirlpool, which competes with LG Electronics for 1st and 2nd place in home appliance sales in the U.S. market, ranked joint 11th, and Swedish Electrolux ranked 25th. Another Korean brand, Samsung Electronics, ranked only 20th.
Consumer Reports emphasized the importance of making the right home appliance choices, stating, "Considering brand reliability when purchasing appliances can reduce failure rates and repair costs," and "It also helps prevent major appliances from quickly becoming e-waste buried in landfills," highlighting eco-friendliness.
Meanwhile, not only in brand reliability but also by product, LG Electronics is recognized for durability and technological prowess in the U.S. home appliance market. In the recently released Consumer Reports refrigerator evaluation, LG Electronics swept 1st place in all premium French door categories, and in the 'Best Washer of the Year' category, LG Electronics’ drum, agitator, and top-load washers all took 1st place.
