Recognition of Mapo-gu Social Economy Integrated Support Center's Contribution to Revitalizing the Social Economy

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Mapo-gu (Mayor Yudonggyun) announced that the Mapo-gu Social Economy Integrated Support Center was selected as the recipient of the Prime Minister's Commendation in the judging results of the ‘2021 Social Economy Revitalization Government Awards’ hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The Mapo-gu Social Economy Integrated Support Center (Director Jinju Hong) is a district-level intermediary support organization for creating local jobs and revitalizing the social economy. It received this honor in recognition of its pioneering and proactive activities contributing to the development of the local social economy.

Mapo-gu has about 326 social economy organizations, the second highest among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul. Their business activities are very active, and among them, the Mapo-gu Social Economy Integrated Support Center, as an intermediary support organization, was highly evaluated for its leading role in establishing social economy policy infrastructure by early building of civil-civil and civil-government networks based on a vibrant social economy ecosystem.

Additionally, the district has been striving to revitalize the social economy by holding an annual social economy expo to raise awareness among many people and provide opportunities to experience and consume products from social economy enterprises in daily life. Last year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the expo was held online, conducting various new activities through virtual means.

Mayor Yudonggyun of Mapo-gu said, “This Prime Minister's Award recognizes the efforts of social economy enterprises and the support organization, the Mapo-gu Social Economy Integrated Support Center, in the Mapo area, and I extend my congratulations to them. I hope social economy enterprises will become a new driving force for the local economy, which has been weakened by COVID-19.”
