[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Dongkuk Steel and SK Ecoplant are expanding the use of safe building materials to create a healthy residential environment.
On the 1st, Dongkuk Steel announced that it signed a "business partnership agreement to establish a strategic cooperative relationship in domestic and international construction and related markets" with SK Ecoplant.
Through this agreement, Dongkuk Steel plans to exchange technology and resources related to 'Luxteel Bio,' an antiviral and antibacterial color steel sheet developed domestically for the first time by Dongkuk Steel. 'Luxteel Bio' is a premium lineup of Dongkuk Steel's architectural interior and exterior color steel sheet brand 'Luxteel,' launched in 2018.
Since the brand launch, Dongkuk Steel has incorporated proprietary technology through continuous research and development. Luxteel Bio exhibits antibacterial effects against O-157, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, while also inhibiting the spread of bacteria and mold and featuring a deodorizing function.
In particular, the improved model of Luxteel Bio, 'Luxteel Bio 3.0,' can eliminate more than 99% of the COVID-19 virus within one hour. Luxteel Bio has been used as interior and exterior materials in spaces requiring bacterial blocking, such as screening clinics, food factories, and pharmaceutical companies, and through this business agreement, it will be applied for the first time in residential spaces such as apartments.
SK Ecoplant plans to expand the application of Dongkuk Steel's 'Luxteel Bio' by utilizing building exterior wall systems in residential, office, and commercial construction projects it oversees, to increase the use of 'safe building materials.' This aims to contribute to establishing a stable residential culture for occupants.
