[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Former Future United Party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn held a book launch event on the 30th in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, hinting at a presidential bid.
At the event, former leader Hwang stated, "The previous Hwang Kyo-ahn is dead," and added, "I will wholeheartedly dedicate myself to regime change."
He said, "I have experienced state affairs as the top official of the legislative, judicial, and executive branches," and boasted, "Even amid the impeachment turmoil, I did my best to ensure normal state administration and protected an unstable country."
He continued, "Although my leadership was incomplete due to the general election defeat, I did not prioritize my political interests to the extent that some might call me a fool," emphasizing, "Now, I will earnestly work to restore the Republic of Korea."
The title of the book released by former leader Hwang is Choeillyu Jeongsanggukga (Top-Class Normal State). He pointed out, "Behind the remarkable political revolution of the 586 generation called democratization lies the 1980s' sense of the times and incompetence, which only created a new progressive vested interest, resulting in failure," and said, "A third type of first-class politician with a warm heart and cold intellect is needed."
The event was attended by about 30 current and former members of the National Assembly, including Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, and Kim Do-eup, chairman of the Policy Committee.
