View Health Information at a Glance with the 'Naeui Geongang Girok' App, Now Available on Naver and Kakao

[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] The 'My Health Record' application, which allows users to view their health information at a glance, will enhance accessibility through partnerships with portal services.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Information Service announced on the 30th that they signed a business agreement with Kakao and NAVER to improve the convenience of the My Health Record app and activate its services.

In February 24, the government announced the 'My Health Way (medical sector MyData) introduction plan,' aiming to create a MyData ecosystem in the medical field based on the My Health Way platform. Before building the platform, the government launched the My Health Record app on the same day, allowing citizens to view, save, and utilize public health information from institutions such as the National Health Insurance Service's treatment and health checkup history, the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service's medication history, and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency's vaccination history on their smartphones.

Since its launch, actual user reviews have shown that the app has been very helpful in actively managing health, although there were also opinions that improvements in convenience were needed.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Information Service signed a business agreement with Kakao and NAVER to resolve inconveniences in app usage and activate the service, seeking app improvement plans through mutual cooperation. In particular, by September, they plan to improve the app to allow easy login using NAVER or Kakao IDs and release an iPhone version of the app, which is currently only available on Android. User function improvements such as UI and UX will also be pursued concurrently.

Lee Kang-ho, Director of the Health Industry Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said, "This business agreement allows the integration of familiar private services into public services, enabling citizens to use public institution health information more conveniently," adding, "We will steadily promote the creation of a My Medical Data ecosystem by 2022 to enable the use of not only public institution health information but also medical institution treatment records and personal physical information."
