Operation of In-house Wastewater Treatment Plant and Use of Eco-friendly Packaging Materials by All Brands in the Group
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Persys Group is actively carrying out internal and external activities to strengthen ESG management.
They operate their own wastewater treatment plants at manufacturing factories to maintain surrounding streams at a clean water quality grade, and all brands within the group?Persys, Illoom, Sidiz, Deskker, Slow, and Alloso?use eco-friendly packaging materials. They also continuously donate to support vulnerable groups struggling to make a living.
Since its founding in 1983, Persys Group has faithfully upheld the philosophy of "fulfilling responsibilities and duties as a member of society." They carefully select and apply only E0-grade furniture materials and became the first in the domestic furniture industry to have all products acquire the global eco-certification standard "GREENGUARD." They have also obtained ISO14001 certification, an international standard for environmental management systems.
Persys Group operates its own wastewater treatment plants at manufacturing factories to maintain a clean water quality grade, and in fact, the streams around the wastewater treatment plants are clean enough to support fish habitats.
Each brand of Persys Group is also actively engaged in ESG activities. Since 2020, all brands have been using naturally degradable oxo-biodegradable vinyl as eco-friendly packaging materials and improving their use. Slow and Alloso produce products harmless to the human body by using eco-friendly water-based adhesives that do not emit environmental hormones. Deskker carried out tree planting activities in April this year in Taebaek, Gangwon Province, a region affected by wildfires, through the tree planting project "Desks, Returning to the Forest."
They are also dedicated to social contribution activities. Last year, Persys donated 1 billion KRW through the Community Chest of Korea to support groups struggling to make a living due to the impact of COVID-19. Illoom has been conducting housing space improvement projects as part of social contribution activities since 2014. Recently, they signed a business agreement with the social contribution platform Happy Alliance to provide Illoom’s design furniture to children in welfare blind spots. In addition, they carry out various activities such as supporting pediatric cancer children’s shelters and providing desk sets for low-income children.
Ethical management is also indispensable. They practice the "No Giving, No Receiving Movement" among internal employees, partners, and business suppliers, and comply with ethical management through internal ethical guidelines. Recently, they established a team to diagnose management activities across all brands and manufacturing and logistics sites within Persys Group, striving to improve internal accounting and work processes.
A Persys Group official stated, "We will strengthen ESG management activities to provide sustainable value to Persys Group’s stakeholders and society," adding, "We will form an ESG TFT within the group to promote the establishment of ESG activities as part of the organizational culture."
