"Sejong Telecom Lays Cables at African Airport, Wins Overseas Contract"

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Sejong Telecom is increasing its overseas orders in Africa following Mongolia, Iraq, and Vietnam.

Sejong Telecom announced on the 29th that it recently signed a contract for the electrical work of the new Bata Airport construction project in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa.

The contracting party is Ssangyong Construction Co., Ltd., with a total contract amount of 13.5 billion KRW, and the construction period is about 21 months until March 2023. The project involves constructing an airport terminal and annex buildings from basement level 1 to the 3rd floor above ground.

Sejong Telecom will carry out all electrical, communication, and fire protection works. This includes installing power distribution facilities, electrical equipment, lighting equipment, control systems, communication facilities, and fire protection systems in the airport terminal and annex buildings.

Sejong Telecom recently succeeded in securing a comprehensive contract for the installation of a 22.9kV distribution line in the 3rd phase of Incheon International Airport, followed by the 4th phase northern remote parking apron aviation lighting facility construction. It also participated in electrical and aviation lighting works at the new Ulaanbaatar International Airport in Mongolia.

To drive its overseas expansion, Sejong Telecom established new subsidiaries in Iraq and Vietnam last year, following Mongolia as strategic bases. In Iraq, it is currently involved in the Bismayah New City Project, a national housing construction project for one million households.

Lee Sang-chul, Head of the Electrical Business Division at Sejong Telecom, said, “Our company contributes to national power projects and public infrastructure expansion with various specialized construction technologies, experience, and abundant technical personnel in electrical, communication, and fire protection works.” He added, “As the situation of overseas clients is improving due to recent oil price increases, we will actively pursue overseas business centered on our base subsidiaries such as in Vietnam.”
