[Click eStock] "Ajinextek Accelerates Metaverse Utilization... Focus on Domestic Production of XR Glasses"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] ResearchAlum analyzed on the 28th that Ajinextek is the only company in Korea capable of designing and manufacturing motion control chips using its own technology. The appropriate target price was estimated at 15,000 KRW.

Motion control solutions are necessary for building smart factories and manufacturing robots. Ajinextek succeeded in developing motion control chips domestically through its proprietary non-memory semiconductor design technology. It supplies products to about 700 companies. Major clients include Semes, Wonik IPS, High Vision System, and LG Electronics.

Researcher Doyoon Kim of ResearchAlum explained, "Motion control solutions are applied to equipment through collaboration among equipment manufacturers, programming companies, and solution providers, making the entry barrier high. When purchasing domestic motion control solutions, engineering services such as programming necessary to implement appropriate motion through functions embedded in the controller can be received promptly."

Researcher Kim expected Ajinextek's role to grow in the domestic motion control market, which was previously dominated by foreign companies.

Researcher Kim said, "With support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, we are developing intelligent controller technology specialized for robots used in bin picking and transfer tasks," adding, "Bin picking refers to sequentially grasping and moving objects randomly stacked on top of each other."

He continued, "Existing technology cannot perform robot bin picking tasks. This controller technology is a next-generation solution based on artificial intelligence and vision technology," emphasizing, "Ajinextek is participating in the world's first mobile collaborative robot demonstration project conducted in the Daegu Collaborative Robot Regulatory Free Zone."

Researcher Kim also stated, "We are working on domestic production of XR glasses for smart factories in collaboration with Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Institute," analyzing, "Micro OLED XR glasses are essential for remote collaboration during smart factory operations."

He added, "The development project is being carried out over 19 months through the Ministry of Science and ICT's ICT R&D Innovation Voucher Support Project," emphasizing, "Collaboration in virtual reality implemented through XR glasses is a representative example of metaverse applied in industrial sites."

He said, "Microsoft in the U.S. has been implementing metaverse in industrial sites through the virtual reality device 'HoloLens 2' since 2019," and "LG CNS is preparing a remote parts development meeting support service for employees in Seoul and other regions within this year using HoloLens 2, which allows experiencing virtual work sites."

Furthermore, he added, "Hyundai Motor Company is already conducting remote design meetings by implementing new car models in the metaverse," and "Samsung Heavy Industries also runs shipbuilding simulations in virtual spaces."

Researcher Kim expected that as the use of metaverse in industrial sites gradually expands, demand for XR glasses will increase.
