[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] KOTRA announced on the 27th that it will hold the "Offshore Wind Project Global Partnership Consultation" online from the 28th to the 2nd of next month. This event was organized to establish cooperative relationships between European offshore wind companies from the Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Korean companies.
European offshore wind developers participating in this consultation, such as the Netherlands' Royal Dutch Shell and Belgium's Parkwind, are interested in joint expansion into Asian regions including Japan and Singapore through cooperation with Korean companies.
Denmark's Vestas is participating in the consultation to explore expanding its supply chain for parts needed in wind turbine manufacturing. With growing interest in hydrogen energy recently, it is seeking cooperation with domestic companies to promote projects linking offshore wind power generation and hydrogen production.
The online non-face-to-face video consultation will be held for five days starting from the 28th. A total of 24 domestic companies will participate according to the demands of nine overseas participating companies including Royal Dutch Shell, Parkwind, Vestas, and Jan De Nul.
Kim Sangmook, Head of KOTRA's Innovation Growth Division, said, "With the increase in domestic and international offshore wind projects, overseas companies are showing high interest in establishing partnerships with our companies," adding, "We will actively support the expansion of domestic equipment procurement by global companies and joint expansion into third countries."
